Location
Glen Dale, MD
Project Details
After well points were unable to properly dewater a perched water table, the auger bore method of pipe installation resulted in sinkhole development and a shutdown to Amtrak’s NE corridor rail lines. The face of the bore was secured, and a horizontal stabilization program was implemented by Aaron Enterprises, Inc. to improve the soils. With the soils improved, the work crew used hand tunnel methods and the jacking system of the bore machine to install the steel casing. The product pipe was installed through the 72” casing and the annular space filled with cellular grout.
