Project Details
Three crossings under Interstate 83, Lightner Rd. and Toronita St. were needed to install a 30” trunk sewer line to a city sewer plant. The three crossings required the use of a 54” diameter tunnel boring machine (TBM) with a rock/mixed face. A conventional boring machine in the launch pits provided the jacking thrust as well as the torque for an auger driven spoil tube muck removal system. Over 800 LF of 54” diameter steel casing was installed for this project.
